New King James Version (NKJV) Bible
The New King James Version (NKJV) bible is a revision of the original 1611 King James Version (KJV) bible. Also known as the Revised Authorized Version, the NKJV was translated by a group of over 100 scholars and pastors.
When translating the NKJV, the main goal was to update the old-English grammar and vocabulary, while maintaining the original King James literary style.
The New King James bible was completed in 1982 and has progressively become more widely used in churches that previously used the original King James bible. The NKJV maintains the literary reputation of the original King James, while being easier to read and understand.
Both the English Standard Version (ESV) and the New King James Version (NKJV) were derived from the original 1611 King James Version (KJV); however, the New King James bible takes a slightly more balanced approach to the translation of the bible, versus the ESV's more literal translation.
The New King James Version (NKJV) Bible is:
- Easy to read and understand, having updated grammar and vocabulary.
- Maintains the authority of the King James Version.
