Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. |
Scripture Reference: Habakkuk 2:3
"For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it, because it will surely come. It won’t delay."
Have you ever prayed for something, waited, and felt like God was silent?
Have you ever believed for a breakthrough, yet faced delay after delay?
Many of us struggle with waiting because we live in a world of instant results. But God operates on a divine timeline, and His delays are not necessarily denials.
Today, I want to encourage you—just because God has not answered your prayer yet, does not mean He has forgotten you. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
His delay is not a denial; it is preparation for something greater! If you are in a waiting season, hold on because God is working behind the scenes. "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28 WEB)
God’s Plan Is Higher Than Ours
"He has made everything beautiful in its time." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
God knows when the time is right.
Just as a farmer does not harvest before the crops are ready, God does not release His blessings until the time is right. Sometimes, we want things prematurely, but if God gave us what we asked for too soon, we might mishandle it.
Example: Joseph in Egypt
Joseph had dreams of leadership at a young age (Genesis 37), but he was sold into slavery, imprisoned, and tested for years before he stepped into his destiny. God was not denying Joseph’s dreams—He was developing him!
Joseph had to go through trials so that he could mature into the leader God called him to be. If God had placed him in power too soon, he might not have been ready to handle the responsibility of saving nations during the famine.
Takeaway: If you are in a 'season of waiting,' trust that God is preparing you for what He has prepared for you.
God Will Never Forget You
God says: "I made you. You are my servant. You will not be forgotten by me." (Isaiah 44:21)
"Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you!" (Isaiah 49:15)
Even when God is silent, He is still present. He never abandons His children. Just because we don’t see Him moving doesn’t mean He isn’t working behind the scenes.
Example: Lazarus (John 11)
When Mary and Martha sent for Jesus, saying Lazarus was sick, Jesus delayed coming. By the time He arrived, Lazarus had been dead for four days! But Jesus was not late—He was setting the stage for a greater miracle. Instead of just healing Lazarus, He raised him from the dead!
Takeaway: Sometimes, God allows situations to reach an impossible stage so that when He moves, only He can take the glory. Your delay might be setting the stage for a greater testimony.
Patiently Waiting on God Builds Endurance
"But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31)
Waiting is not wasted time—it is a time to grow in faith. When we wait on God, He strengthens us spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.
Example: Abraham and Sarah
God promised Abraham a son, but 25 years passed before Isaac was born (Genesis 21). Despite the delay, Abraham remained strong in faith.
Paul speaks of Abraham's faith in Romans 4:20-21 – "Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised." (NIV)
Many people give up when they do not see immediate results, but the true test of faith is trusting God even when His response is delayed. Abraham trusted God’s promise, even when it seemed impossible.
Takeaway: While waiting, strengthen your faith through prayer, worship, and reading the Word. If Abraham could wait 25 years for his promise, can you trust God in your waiting season?
'Called' for such a time as this...
"Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do." (Esther 4:16)
Regarding demonic oppression and possession...
"This kind can come out by nothing but by prayer and fasting." (Mark 9:29)
God’s Perfect Timing Brings Sudden Miracles
"The Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple." (Malachi 3:1)
God may seem slow, but when the appointed time comes, He acts swiftly!
Example: The Day of Pentecost (Acts 2)
The disciples waited for the Holy Spirit, and when the time came, He came suddenly! God had not forgotten them; He was waiting for the perfect moment.
Example: Paul and Silas in Prison (Acts 16:25-26)
Paul and Silas were imprisoned for preaching the gospel, but instead of complaining, they prayed and worshiped. Then, suddenly, an earthquake shook the prison, the chains broke, and they were set free!
Takeaway: Stay ready, because your "suddenly" moment is coming! Don’t stop praying, don’t stop believing, don't stop trusting—God’s timing is never late.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." (Proverbs 3:5)
Stay Faithful in the Process
While waiting for God’s promises, we must remain faithful.
Here are three key things to do:
1. Continue in Prayer
"Pray without ceasing." (1 Thessalonians 5:17) Even when you don’t see results, keep praying. God hears you!
2. Stay in God’s Word
"Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path." (Psalm 119:105) The Bible is our 'guide' in dark seasons. Stay encouraged by His promises.
3. Keep Serving God
Don’t sit and wait—be active in your faith! Continue serving in ministry, helping others, and trusting that God is working behind the scenes. Jesus says, "When you have done all the things that are commanded of you, say, 'We are unworthy servants. We have only done our duty.'" (Luke 17:10)
God's 'NO' is a Blessing
When you are praying for healing or salvation, trust on the Lord your God with all your heart. But when you pray for 'wants,' understand that 'closed doors' are a Blessing, because God knows that which we do not. "For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men." (1 Corinthians 1:25)
Trust in God's plan for your life. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
Trust God Even in Disappointments
Sometimes, what we call 'delay' is actually God saying 'no' because He has something better.
Example: Paul’s Thorn in the Flesh (2 Corinthians 12:7-9)
Paul prayed for God to remove his suffering, but God said, "My grace is sufficient for you." Sometimes, God doesn’t remove the storm—He strengthens us in the storm.
Example: Jesus in Gethsemane (Luke 22:42)
Jesus prayed, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me." Yet, He surrendered to God’s will. "Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done."
Imagine if God had answered his request?
There would be no salvation without the sacrifice made my Jesus.
Takeaway: If God says 'no' to something, trust that He has a better plan. God’s delays are not necessarily denials—they are divine preparations. Trust His perfect timing, stay faithful in the waiting, and be ready for His sudden move in your life.
