New International Version (NIV) Bible
The New International Version (NIV) bible is one of the most popular bibles, frequently ranking number one as the most bought bible. It is a fairly recent English translation, being first published in the 1970s.
The NIV is well known for being a balance of literal (word-for-word) vs. representative (thought-for-thought). It was translated by a variety of scholars from mostly protestant backgrounds.
The NIV owes much of its success to being very easy to read and understand. In the time since it was first published, it has quickly risen to being one of the most sold English bibles in the world.
The New International Version (NIV) bible was most recently updated in 2011. Throughout the NIV's history of translation, more than a hundred scholars have participated in working on producing an accurate translation of the word of God.
The New International Version Bible (NIV) is:
- Very easy to read and understand, having a balance of "word-for-word" vs. "thought-for-thought."
- Very popular among protestant Christians.
