New American Standard Bible (NASB)
The New American Standard Bible (NASB) is a fairly recent translation of the bible, being first published in 1971, and updated most recently in 1995. It was translated by the Lockman Foundation, a non-profit organization, who's main goal was to create as literal of a translation as possible.
As follows, the New American Standard Bible (NASB) is one of the most literal, word-for-word, English translations of the bible available. The New American Standard is connected to the Revised Standard Version (RSV) in that both versions are revisions of the 1901 American Standard Version (ASV).
The New American Standard Bible is therefore further connected to the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and English Standard Version (ESV), since both are revisions of the RSV.
